Changes in your pension amount
Did your pension amount change? This may be due to several adaptations. On this page, we list all possible adaptations.
Your pension amount may change as a result of:
For employee and self-employed worker pensions only.
Every year, the management and trade unions and the government apportion a welfare envelope to increase the spending power.
Every year in January, a number of adaptations are made to the pensions and benefits paid by the Pensions Service.
The gross pension and any other social benefits you receive from the Pension Service are adjusted through indexation to reflect "rising prices" (cost of living).
For civil service pensions only.
The civil service retirement and survivor's pensions keep pace with the evolution of the wages of the active civil servants. We call this adaptation of the pension amount the biennial adaptation of the civil service pensions to the wages of the active civil servants.
The payroll tax is deducted from all taxable benefits. It is an advance on the personal income tax that is transferred to the Federal Public Service (FPS) Finance.
The payroll tax wage scales are adapted annually on 1 January.
